Marshmallow Snowman Pops

Marshmallow snowman pops are a fun and easy treat to make this holiday season. Give the marshmallow snowmen out as edible Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers, or favors for guests at your Christmas party.

These super cute marshmallow snowman treats make a tasty snack on their own or can be used as marshmallow snowman stirrers for hot cocoa. They would make an incredible addition to a hot cocoa bar as well!

These snowman marshmallow pops would also be fun to make with the kids on a snow day or for the first snow of the winter.

Plus these treats would be perfect for making at your next holiday baking exchange, alongside our classic Gingerbread Man cookies.

The best part is, you only need a handful or two of simple ingredients to make these adorable snowman snacks. Let’s take a look at what you will need.

INGREDIENTS

This section includes ingredient notes and substitution options. Get all measurements, ingredients, and instructions in the printable recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Marshmallows— Three marshmallows will form the base of each snowman’s body.
  • Mini M&Ms— To serve as buttons for the snowman snacks.
  • Twizzlers Pull ‘n’ Peel Candy— The red strings of candy make a perfect snoman scarf. You could also cut pieces of fruit leather or Fruit by the Foot to form the scarf instead.
  • Reese’s Minis— The small chocolate peanut butter candies make tasty chocolate hats for your winter treats.
  • Chocolate Chips— to be melted and used to decorate the snowman’s face
  • Candy Melts I colored white chocolate candy melts with orange food coloring to make the snowman’s carrot nose. However, next time I will use orange candy melts to begin with, which would be easier. That way no food coloring is needed. You can find candy melts in the baking section of craft stores and many big box stores.
  • White Frosting— Store-bought white icing will be used as the “glue” to hold the different decorations on your marshmallow snowman kebabs.

HOW TO MAKE MARSHMALLOW SNOWMAN

This section shows you how to make the recipe with step-by-step photos and instructions. For the full printable recipe, see the recipe card below.

Step 1: Melt chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir well then microwave in additional 15-second increments, stirring between intervals, until melted and smooth. Set aside.

Step 2: Repeat with orange candy melts and set aside.

Step 3: Slide three marshmallows onto each stick.

Step 4: Using a butter knife, add a bit of frosting to the back of 3 M&Ms. Press the M&Ms down the front of the snowman to resemble buttons. I like to use 3 of the same color for each snowman.

Step 5: Pull off a single strand of the Twizzlers candy. Lay it flat on your working surface and place your marshmallow pop in the center. Wrap the candy around the bottom of the top marshmallow and tie it to create a scarf.

Step 6: Using a toothpick and the melted chocolate, draw dots on the snowman to make his eyes and mouth.

Step 7: Using a separate toothpick, dip it into the orange chocolate and use it to draw a nose to complete each snowman’s face.

Step 8: Use a butter knife to add a small amount of frosting to the top of a mini reese’s peanut butter cup. Press the candy onto the top of each snowman’s head to make a hat.

Simply repeat the process to create the desired number of marshmallow snowman pops.

STORAGE

You can place each snowman stirrer in an individual cellophane bag to hand out as party favors at your holiday party. You can also place several in an airtight container and store them at room temperature for up to a day or 2.

Be very careful when storing them so you don’t disrupt the snowman’s accessories, these are very fragile and can become disassembled very easily.

EXPERT TIPS AND TRICKS

  • Prep ahead for easy clean up. Line your working surface with parchment or wax paper to catch any melted chocolate drips.
  • Add arms. You can add to the side of your snowmen using pretzel sticks. Or use a disposable piping bag and melted chocolate to pipe the arms on.
  • Use them as a stirrer.  These would be the perfect thing to stir your hot chocolate with. Then leave them in the beverage and watch the snowman melt into your drink, bringing a unique type of sweetness.
  • Have the kids help. Give the kids the ingredients, show them how to make one, and then let them loose. Watch them have tons of fun making marshmallow snowmen.
  • Skip the marker. You may see some recipes out there telling you to use a Sharpie or a permanent marker to just draw the snowman’s face on, but why would you do that when you can use, safe, edible ingredients instead? You don’t want to eat something that has ink on it!

MARSHMALLOW SNOWMAN POPS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I have to use orange candy melts?

Instead of orange melting candy, there are a few other options you can use. Some of our favorite options to swap these candy melts out for are white chocolate chips or white almond bark colored with a few drops or orange gel food coloring.

What size marshmallows do I use?

I recommend using regular-size, large marshmallows. You need enough room on the marshmallows to create the face and a mini marshmallow simply doesn’t have enough working space.

Can I freeze these pops?

I know, I’d love to freeze these for later too, but I don’t think they would hold up well when you try to thaw them out. I think they’d fall apart too easily and the texture of the marshmallows may change.
